Level 1 Health & Safety in Construction

This qualification is designed for learners working in, or aspiring to work in, the construction industry. It will give learners the knowledge to undertake their jobs safely. Successful learners will fulfil the requirements to apply for the CSCS Labourers card.
The course covers five core knowledge areas:
Legal & Management.
Health & Welfare
General Safety
High Risk Activities
The Environment
These include common hazards and risks in a construction environment, safe manual handling practices, working safely at height and working safely around plant and machinery.

This qualification is assessed by a Multiple Choice Examination (MCQ). Exams are taken at a site near you in 45 minute appointed time slots.

Care Course
Personal Development into Employability

The objective of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment and/or support a role in the workplace. The total  time for this qualification is 60 and of this 30 are recommended as guided learning hours.
These include completing a job application form, job searching, effective teamwork, preparing for an interview, health and safety in the workplace, working as a volunteer, building working relationships with customers, preparing for work placement, the rules to deliver customer service, sector specific training for the Care Industry including:
Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, First Aid, Duty of Care, Manual Handling, Food Safety and Health and Safety in Social Care with guaranteed interviews.

This qualification can be assessed by a multiple choice examination, a portfolio of evidence or a practical demonstration.

FIRST AID AT WORK

Assessment method

This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to become emergency first-aiders in the workplace. This qualification meets the requirements for training emergency first-aiders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first-aid needs assessment.
The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider and how to assess an incident. The qualification also covers first aid skills in CPR and use of an AED, providing first aid to a casualty who is choking and dealing with external bleeding and hypovolemic shock.
This qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and a multiple-choice theory test.

12 Week Course covering:
Addition,Subtraction and Division, Decimals, Fractions, Handling Data, Money, Measuring, Time and Dates, Weights and Measures, Length and Distance.




This course is assessed by completion of units and an exam at the end of the course

ESSENTIAL DIGITAL SKILLS (EDSQ)
Digital Skills have been developed to enable learners to become familiar with the basics of key digital skills that will enable them to progress into further learning or Employment .


12 Week Course covering:
Using devices and handling information Creating and editing
Communicating
Transacting.
Being safe and responsible online.

 



This course is assessed by completion of units and invigilated assessments.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS ENGLISH 
Designed at learners who wish to build confidence in English skills, build knowledge of the fundamentals of English, fill skills gaps to enable progression to other qualifications, further learning or Employment.

12 Week Course covering:
Grammar and Punctuation in Practical
Reading Comprehension,Speaking To Communicate, Spelling in Practice, Using Listening and Responding Skills,Writing Composition Skills


This course is assessed by completion of units and an exam at the end of the course

Level 2 Award Food Safety For Catering

This qualification is aimed at individuals who are, or intend to be, food handlers working in catering, care and jobs where individuals may serve food or prepare food. 

Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food.
