A CSCS card is an essential qualification to have should you want to work within the UK’s construction industry. Whether you are a Labourer or Site Manager, this card is a legal requirement to gain access to work on a construction site.

The CSCS test is important as it shows proof to your employer that you are aware of the Health and Safety rules. Also, due to the nature of the job role, it creates a safer working environment for yourself and your colleagues to work in.

Here at Job Change, we run a CSCS card course that is quick and flexible around your lifestyle. As we are funded by the National Career Service the course is fully funded, except for the cost of the card which is currently £30.00.

As of 1st September 2018, all cards administered by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) will rise 20% from £30.00 to £36.00. The last price increase was in 2010 but costs associated with running the scheme have increased significantly since then, CSCS said.

In a statement from CSCS Chief Executive, Graham Wren he states “We have managed to maintain the current card price for the last eight years however inflationary pressure, together with increased costs associated with combating fraudulent activity, have pushed our costs up to the point where the current price is not sustainable.”
